Great achievements in adventure training.
CI Ashley Sayers of 249 (Hailsham) Squadron has just passed his level 3 Certificate in Basic Expedition Leadership, the qualification is a nationally recognised qualification that trains and qualifies individuals to lead walks and run expeditions lowland countryside. This is just another addition to Ashley’s impressive qualification list. In under a two and half years Ashley has also managed to gain two climbing qualifications, the Climbing Wall Award and Single Pitch Award. Ashley is now looking to go on to do some winter skills and hopefully move into Ice climbing.
Sqn Ldr Neil Banks, Sussex Wings Adventure Training Officer said “This is a great achievement; as a cadet Ashley was one of the first to be allowed onto the adventure training team”. “We usually only allowed adult staff, but he has by far proven him-self to be an excellent outdoor instructor”. Ashley only became a CI in May this year and has a great future in front of him. At present he is applying to become an Officer in the Army Air Corps.
