Wing Commander John Beazley DFC Royal Air Force
Wing Commander John Beazley, who has died aged 94, was a Battle of Britain fighter pilot and saw almost continuous action during the Second World War. The memorial service for Wing Commander Beazley was held on Saturday 16th July at St Lawrence’s Church, Wormley, Herts. Staff and cadets from 249 Squadron ATC were proud to attend the memorial service, and to provide a guard of honour for the guests attending the service, at the request of the family. Four cadets also conducted the collection during the service, with Cpl Smith taking the completed collection up to the Altar, before marching back down the church to re-join her fellow cadets. Officer Commanding Flying Officer Thomson said ' I am exceptionally proud of both staff and cadets, and their turn out at the memorial service. Despite the terrible weather, the cadets provided an exemplary Guard of Honour outside the Church, to a most positive reaction from family, friends and colleagues of Wing Commander Beazley. Once again I have not been let down by the maturity and reliability of the cadets and indeed staff from 249. Thanks go to Flt Sgt Calvert, Fg Off Calvert, CI Calvert, Cpls Smith & Hutchison, Cdts Underdown, Williams, Abbot, Fenn and Grainger for their commitment.
