Southdowns ChallengeOn Saturday 2ndJuly 2011 cadets from all over Sussex Wing took part in the annual "South Downs Challenge". This is a 40km Hike and navigation challenge following the South Downs Way. Each team has eleven hours to complete the challenge. Each year the route alternates between an East/West route or a West/East route. This year we were travelling West to East, starting at Whiteways just above Arundel and finishing at Waterhall, Brighton. 249 had a team of seven cadets taking part. Cpl’s Pelling and Smith with Cadet’s Underdown, Kellegher, Taplin, Grainger and Funnell. The weather was very warm and a number of cadets had to drop out at various check points along the route, but in true 249 fashion all our cadets completed the challenge with plenty of time to spare. Well done to the cadets of 249 and many thanks to all the staff from Sussex Wing who gave up their time to run the event. |
