249 Squadron romped home with the Adventure Training Cup.

For the third year running 249 rose to the challenge against 23 other Squadrons to the win the coveted Wing Field Weekend Adventure Training Cup.

The Wing Field weekend is an annual event where Air Training Corps Squadrons across Sussex Wing come together to compete in various drill elements, first aid, shooting, aircraft modeling, aircraft recognition and penultimate adventure training competition. The adventure training element pushes and tests the nerves and skill of all the cadets taking part. There is a series of test and challenges put to the teams, from building bridges across rivers to crossing deep chasms on a Tyrolean traverse, as well as field craft and other team building events.

Flt Lt Neil Banks Officer commanding 249 Sqn said “This is a fantastic result, I’m really proud that we have won the Adventure Training Trophy for the third year running. “The challenges that the cadets have to go through are extremely tough, for example they had to build a raft and then paddle it out in freezing conditions to complete a task. The water was extremely cold.  This takes determination and courage to win.”

Well done 249.
