Eastbourne Airbourne
Air cadets from across Sussex helped in making AIRBOURNE 2010 a huge success. Crowds flocked to the free four-day event. 249 (Hailsham) Squadron ran the Air Cadet Climbing Tower and other Squadron from across the east sector sold Airbourne programmes and ran the recruiting trailer. Eyes were glued to the skies for more than 70 flying displays. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Breitling Wingwalkers, The Blades, Catalina, Eurofighter Typhoon and the iconic Red Arrows were just some entertaining the visitors. The occasional showers failed to dampen the spirits of the crowds, as families and plane enthusiasts enjoyed the many attractions on offer at the event. There were replica aircraft on display and The Extreme Globe Riders, Essex Dog Display Team and the Easy Company Military Vehicle Display put on shows in the arena on the Western Lawns. There was also evening entertainment which included live music, evening flying displays and a spectacular firework finale on Sunday night.
Flt Lt Neil Banks OC 249 said “ this free airshow is one of the premier Airshows run in the Sussex, and It is great that the Air Training Corps plays such a pivotal part to making it a great success”.
