Scotland 2010

Three 249 members had an exciting and challenging expedition deep into the Mountains of Scotland.  IC FSgt Grimson, CI Ty Wood and the boss Flt Lt Neil Banks, joined Sqn Ldr John Cameron on a Winter mountaineering course in the Cairngorm mountains.

The conditions were perfect and the trio under training could have been in the Alps by the end of it! Sqn Ldr John Cameron, who is qualified to deliver the course, set a very high standard of training from the start.  On the agenda was winter navigation, use of ice axe and crampons, as well as avalanche safety and emergency shelters.
